Our Mission

Beauty Marks for Girls' mission is to empower children of incarcerated parents to rise beyond adversity and build brighter futures.  


 Our efforts, with the support of the community, are geared towards not only minimizing the trauma brought on by parental incarceration through community-building activities and mental health care, but towards empowering participants to channel their obstacles into strength for success.

Our Vision

 A world where every girl impacted by parental incarceration has the opportunity to thrive, lead, and break the cycle of intergenerational incarceration.

 Over 50 invited guests filled the room with excitement to witness the Unveiling of Beauty Marks for Girls' Scholarship Ceremony. We are thrilled to announce our partnership with The Spartanburg Foundation to establish one of the first-ever college scholarship funds tailored exclusively for children of incarcerated parents.

 When a mother is incarcerated, families often face sudden financial strain. Many guardians—grandparents, relatives, or caregivers—struggle to cover basic needs. Lack of access to hygiene products can cause missed school days and emotional stress. By providing monthly hygiene supplies, we not only meet a practical need but also restore dignity, ease the burden on families, and remind each girl that she is cared for and seen.

Free Gas Cards to visit Moms

 Maintaining a consistent bond between girls and their incarcerated mothers is important to our mission. Research shows that regular parent–child contact can ease trauma, reduce feelings of abandonment, and even support a mother’s success upon reentry. But for many families, visiting isn’t simple—correctional facilities are often hours away, and travel costs put an additional burden on already struggling households. To remove this barrier, Beauty Marks for Girls provides gas cards to help families travel to correctional facilities.

 In this video, hear from a mentee of Beauty Marks for Girls as she shares her journey as the daughter of an incarcerated mother. She recalls the heavy questions she carried before enrolling in Beauty Marks—who would help her and how she could afford college. Through the program, she found the support that helped her rise above the statistics and believe in her future. Today, she is not just a student—she is a thriving college scholar, proof that hope and opportunity can rewrite any story.
